reading the Bible together

As a church family, we’re reading through the whole Bible together over 3 years. You can find the books we plan to read each month listed below. On the last Wednesday evening of each month at 8pm, as part of our midweek meeting, we have a time of sharing how God has spoken to us through His Word. At the bottom of this page, we’ve listed seven questions that help us understand and apply what we’ve read in the Bible.

During December 2024, we’re reading together through the books of Proverbs

The Bible Project: overview videos

The Bible Project have produced videos summarising each book of the Bible. We will find these videos helpful as we read. Please see below the link to their YouTube video giving an animated overview of this months book.

Questions to ask when you read the bible

The Bible has a lot to say about itself and about how we should approach reading it and putting into practice.

Here are some questions you can ask yourself after you’ve read a book of the Bible, based on things the Bible says about itself:

I. the ONE True living god

1. What did you learn about Jesus? (Luke 24: 44-47)

2. What have you learnt that helps you to love the Lord your God with all your heart & with all your soul & with all your mind? (Matthew 22:37-40)

II. Our walk with the living god

3. What did you learn about yourself? (James 1:23 & 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

4. How were you corrected and rebuked and how do you feel you need to change to be the servant of God thoroughly equipped for every good work? (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

5. What did you learn from the scripture that will help you endure and be encouraged? (Romans 15:4)

III. service

6. What did you learn that will teach you to do works of service to build up the church? (Ephesians 4:11-16)

7. What has helped you to love your neighbour as yourself? (Matthew 22:37-40)
